One of the most important ministries that one can participate in is the ministry of sacristan. A sacristan works to make the Liturgy beautiful in a variety of ways. Their duties include: laundering and ironing the linens used on the Altar, laundering vestments, polishing candlesticks, replacing burned out votive candles, helping to set things out for Mass, putting things away after Mass, etc.
The schedule of a sacristan is very flexible, and the duties of sacristans vary by church. Not all sacristans do all of the tasks listed above. Because our volunteers' time is limited, some sacristans specialize in only certain tasks. The church is grateful to everyone who wants to volunteer, and will work with the volunteer's schedule.
Any practicing Catholic in good standing is welcome to become a sacristan. For more information, please contact Fr. David.
